Ortus Energy has teamed up with SSE Energy Solutions to implement a large-scale solar energy project at the Kia Stockton dealership in Stockton-on-Tees.
This initiative reflects the commitment of both companies to supporting businesses in their transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
A 601 kWp solar PV system has been installed as part of the project, designed to optimise energy consumption on-site. It is projected to generate 538,000 kWh of renewable electricity each year, supplying around 45% of the dealership’s total energy needs.
Through this initiative, Kia Stockton is strengthening its commitment to sustainability. By adopting solar power, the dealership is expected to cut its carbon emissions by 110 tonnes of CO2 annually, contributing to environmental preservation.
SSE Energy Solutions is providing financial support for the solar system and has entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Kia Stockton. Under this arrangement, the dealership will pay a fixed rate for the energy generated over a 25-year period without any initial investment. By utilising PPAs, businesses can shield themselves from volatile energy prices, improve access to clean energy sources, and enhance the predictability of their energy costs.
