With lots of new social media apps appearing online, each being promoted as the next wonder social networking app, this is increasingly causing many businesses to become swamped by the sheer number and variety of social media on offer.
So, is it smart to ask yourself which is the right social network for your business before you commit to the next shiny online object? And should you become more choosy about which social networks be active on with a limited time and budget?
If that means looking carefully at using Instagram as one of your business’s social media platforms, here are a few things you should know about it to make your choice…
Find out if your target customers are using Instagram
Don’t choose a social network without checking out the user base in order to make sure it matches with your business products and services. According to a HootSuite report in February 2020, there are over 1 billion users on Instagram with 116 million in the US and 22.9 in the United Kingdom with 57% aged between 18-29 being the most popular users. That means if you target an older demographic (say women in their 60s), you may be unlikely to find your audience on this social network.
However, if you’re offering trending fashion, clothing, or makeup targeting younger females, then Instagram may be a perfect fit for your business. It just depends on what you’re selling and who you’re selling it to.
Research where your competitors are on social media
It’s important to find out, not only if your target market is on the instagram platform, but to see if your competitors are using this social media site. And if you find them regularly using Instagram then its a definite clue that your own business brand and products need to also be on there.
Which means you have to study their marketing tactics for using Instagram and then use this information to help you created engage with followers and eventually start to sell your products or services. So, for example, if you see competitors posting frequently and asked questions and getting answers and comments, then it’s a good sign that you should be doing the same.
Work out a plan and share the right posts
Before you post on Instagram, think about what strategy you will use. Which means you shouldn’t just put any content onto your Instagram site in the hope that sometime will attract attention. Instead, its much more effective to plan a long-time Instagram strategy as part of your marketing plan that actually gets you the overall results you want.
The posts that you want to share on Instagram are images, photos and especially videos which means you’ll be able to show the exact results that your potential customers will get after they use your products and services. For example, you can post before and after shots or video clips of your clients if you are a weight loss or run a fitness gym, or if you’re offering interior design such as decoration, furniture and lighting, or the lates fashion trends.
In fact, you’re only really limited by your imagination and creativity. So maybe it’s time to really research how Instagram can help your business, work out a long-term strategy and post your designs to engage with and sell to the right audience.
