Gaming fans in Somerset can look forward to a new entertainment hotspot as Continue Arcades opens its second location on East Street, Taunton. The new site continues the brand’s popular ‘free play’ format, following the success of its original Plymouth venue.
The arcade offers a rich mix of old-school classics and modern gaming experiences, with machines such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Street Fighter IV standing alongside updated arcade titles and pinball games. Entry is charged at a flat rate – £13 for adults aged 16 and over, £10 for children aged 4–15, and free for children under 4 – giving visitors unlimited gameplay throughout their visit.
This entry model replaces the traditional coin-operated system, aiming to create a more inclusive and leisurely gaming environment.
Founder Austin Wood launched Continue Arcades to make gaming more affordable and accessible. Inspired by his travels in the US, he sought to transform empty units into social gaming venues where people could come together through shared play.
“Continue Arcades is about bringing people together through gaming,” said Wood. “We wanted to create a space where everyone, regardless of age or gaming experience, can enjoy themselves without the constant need for coins.”
Guests can also enjoy a drinks selection including soft beverages, beer, cider, IPAs, and pre-mixed cocktails. For a small fee, unlimited warm popcorn is also available. With its family-oriented design, the venue welcomes everyone – from solo players to group bookings.
The Taunton arcade opens on 4 April, with trading hours set as 11:30 am–9:00 pm Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 am–11:00 pm Friday, and 10:00 am–11:00 pm Saturday.
The new site furthers Continue Arcades’ vision of building welcoming, inclusive spaces where gaming is fun, social, and endlessly nostalgic.
