VitrA Tiles has officially commenced operations at its Aksaray solar power plant, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
As part of the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles continues its transition towards clean energy solutions. The newly completed Solar Power Plant (SPP) in Aksaray represents another significant milestone following the installation of a 3.5 MW rooftop solar power plant in Bozüyük in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this latest investment ensures that more than half of the electricity used in its Turkish operations this year will be generated from renewable sources.
A Greener Future Through Solar Energy
Designed to cover a large portion of the company’s electricity needs, the Aksaray SPP is expected to generate enough power to sustain 19,700 households annually. The plant features 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, and will help reduce carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu reiterated the company’s ambitious sustainability vision, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
Construction of the Aksaray SPP began in April 2024, with power generation commencing in February 2025 following the completion of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This initiative provides both economic and environmental benefits, further positioning VitrA Tiles as a leader in sustainable energy development.
